Today was wonderful. I felt like a teapot bubbling over with happiness and I did a lot of spontaneous jumping and cheering. I can't think of another time that I have felt so completely euphoric. I ran across the house and hopped on unsuspecting Jeff like a koala bear. I noticed both kids staring with wide smiles as I raised the roof (an over-used move in my mom-dance arsenal) and literally bounced around the kitchen. I couldn't help myself. Sincerely, I am not that kind of mom.
I think it felt like Christmas Eve today because Jeff is talking Step 2 tomorrow. It is a nine-hour board exam for medical school. When he drives home he won't have any more major scholastic hurdles (if you ignore upcoming residency interview) until graduation. Jeff is free! We realized today that he has not been this unencumbered since 2014. That is way too long in my book.
Jeff took the day off today. I woke up to him playing with Riley and cooking breakfast for us. He took us to the park in the morning on a Thursday (unheard of) and went to the gym while the children napped. By the way, Max went in a swing for the first time today and loved it! To say I am thrilled for Jeff (and the rest of us) is an understatement. Run, freedom, run (until July 1, 2018)!
I cannot wait to capitalize on the family time coming down the pike, then I cannot wait for him to be a licensed otolaryngologist (...in 2023). Then we can get a dog and whenever I want, I can hang out with the hottest thing since toast.
